CENTURY BRILLIANT CUT GLASS INKWELL WITH REPOUSSE STERLING LID
Brilliant cut glass
inkwell with a Repousse sterling silver top by Gorham.
The sterling lid is
marked with the Gorham logo from the last quarter of the 19
th
Century with “Sterling” and “43 2 3” along the rim.
The sterling lid weighs
71.2 grams.
Overall, the piece is
approximately 4 ½” high.
The glass portion of the
inkwell is 3 ½” square and 2 ¾” high.
There are no noticeable
cracks or chips. I can feel one rough place when I run my finger over one of
the sides.
There are slotted groves
on the rim of the glass inkwell and the sterling lid that allow the top to be
screwed on and off.
Ornate cut glass bottom.
No monograms on the
sterling lid.
The inkwell itself
weighs 3 ¼ pounds.
There is a black area
along the rim that appears to be cement? Have not attempted to cleaned.
